What is the ECDL?

The ECDL consists of seven modules, which lead to the qualification.
The ECDL is made up of seven different modules and covers the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society. There are six courses that map to the different ECDL modules to help you get the skills you need.
The Modules are:
Module 1 - Basic concepts of Information Technology
Module 2 - Using Computers and Managing Files
Module 3 - Word Processing
Module 4 - Spreadsheets
Module 5 - Databases
Module 6 - Presentations
Module 7 - Information & Communication
How long does the programme take?
Course duration - 6 Months
When would I need to attend?
The course is offered as a Flexible Learning programme. In order to complete the programme, you would need to dedicate approximately 2.5 hours per week. If you have a computer with an Internet connection at work or at home, you can access your courseware 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
When and how do I take my assessments?
As you complete each module, you will undertake a 45-minute assessment to demonstrate your competency. Assessments are carried out on-line and consist of either simulation tasks or multiple-choice questions.
